We live in a world of abundance. We all have repleteproduct, too many distractions, superabundantphotos, too many ideas... and a lot of it is free or close to it! We can lose our will to scrapbook when we amassand are faced with stacks of pictures, mountainof paper and other products, and just have no idea where to jump-off.
Scraplifting -- using inspiration from other people's pages and idea-- can help you overcome many of the causes of scrapper's block, including overwhelm, distraction, perfectionism. Here are some ways to help you stop protractand get scrapping.
1. If you suffer from OVERWHELM/PERFECTIONISM... call uponyourself you've got three minutes to find a layout to lift. Flip through a scrapbooking periodical or browse an online gallery and find inspiration there. Then use that layout as a jumping off point for your own idea, or copy it element-by-element. Remember, it's for your personal scrapbook.
2. If you suffer from DISTRACTION... don't researchonline! The internet is a black hole that can suck you in and keep you there. I keep a binder full of ideas for pages, torn from pamphlet, so I can't get distracted by checking links or going on an never-ending rabbit trail. Or limit yourself to ONE gallery, or ONE PAGE in ONE GALLERY, to find the layout you like. And promise yourself that you won't follow any links until you finish your page!
3. If you have lost your scrapbooking mojo... GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK! If you truly don't feel like scrapbooking, give yourself a break! Scrapbooking isn't a life sentence. It should be merry and enjoyable. But once in a blue moon we all just need to get away and take a break so we can return with new energy and perspective.
